Thurrock Marching Brass enjoyed a busy weekend of fund raising and leading hundreds of scouts as they paraded their way to Blackshots in Grays.
Firstly, on Saturday 22 April, young members attended a few hours bag packing at the Lakeside Tesco store, where they helped hundreds of shoppers by packing their bags for them as they passed through the check-out tills. Shoppers in turn chatted to the young members about what they do and what the band and organisation is all about, and in return were kind enough to put small donations into the collection tins.
Thurrock Marching Brass would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Tesco Lakeside for their incredible support and in being so welcoming to our youngsters. Everyone had a great time, and the members raised some much needed funds for TMB in the process.
Sunday 23 April is an event that we are very proud to take part in. The annual Scout Parade sees over 1,000 youngsters parading proudly from the Hathaway School in Grays to Blackshots, Grays, Thurrock to celebrate St. George’s Day. Playing an ever increasing selection of parade tunes and drum cadences, the young members entertained the large crowd that had gathered all along the route and at the end, and they were a fitting lead to this prestigious parade.
Our thanks to Terry Mead and everyone involved in the parade for inviting us to join you again this year, and the event just seems to get better each and every year.
Speaking of the events and proceedings, Corps Director, Jay Lindner said “It’s been an incredibly busy week that has seen many exciting performances by the band and small groups of members in the community - something that is very important to us here at Thurrock Marching Brass. The members who were able to attend these events were simply amazing. These youngsters really work hard to produce the performances that they put on each time their uniform goes on. Congratulations and well done to every single member, and to all our hosts for inviting us to participate. We look forward to many more”.
Thurrock Marching Brass is proud to perform as much as they can within the community and you can keep up to date with all their engagements on our website below or by following them on Facebook.
