Thurrock Academy returns to Competition after a two year absence

On Sunday 28 January, and after a two year absence from the Winter Guard United Kingdom circuit the young members of TMBs colourguard entered the field of competition again under their winter name of Thurrock Academy.

Returning to the Junior Class at the WGUK Clacton show, hosted by our good friends at Alliance Performing Arts, the girls unveiled their 2018 production “Try” using the music of Dolly Parton and a soundtrack of the same name. The reception for Thurrock Academy’s return was incredibly supportive and warm and everyone was delighted with the performance which secured Thurrock Academy a bronze position on the day with an impressive GE score.

A short clip of the performance has been kindly provided by WGUK via their Fan Network here and if you would like to view the full performance we would highly recommend you joining the Fan Network, which provides not only current performances for every unit, but also back years as well. There is a small fee to cover administration of the site but this is a one off payment and well worth it. You can access it via the WGUK web site or by typing into your browser.

Speaking of the performance and result, Guard Director, Charmaine Mansfield commented “Our return program is a really fun one this year and has a very special meaning to our members as it has been written for them and signifies their journey and learning as they return back onto the competition stage in their own right as a colourguard. I am delighted with the first performance and even more so for how the production will start to unfold in the coming weeks too. I would like to thank my design team, instructors, members and of course parents for all their hard work. We made it. We are back, and I couldn’t be any more pleased.”
